Expansion of Bharatpur airport stressed



KATHMANDU: Speakers representing diverse sectors have emphasized the need to effectively take ahead the campaign of expanding the Bharatpur Airport of Chitwan.

Speaking at a program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation in Kathmandu on Monday, speakers stressed the need to expedite the expansion of the Bharatpur Airport located in the middle of the country.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal expressed pleasure over what he said ‘increased coordination’ among the concerned ministries for the expansion of the airport.

“Urbanization needs well managed and a safe airport,” Dahal said.

Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel assured of full support from the Defense Ministry and Nepal Army for the expansion of Bharatpur Airport.

Minister for Tourism Yogesh Bhattarai assured of initiating the expansion works by establishing effective coordination among ministries, stakeholders, local levels, among others.

Likewise, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal said the airport needs to be developed as a major airport in Bagmati State.
