KATHMANDU: The government has formed a five-member committee to monitor and study the state of crusher industries in operation across the country.
The committee comprising joint-secretaries of the five ministries will make a report on the state of the more than 5000 such industries in the country.
A meeting of five ministers including Home, Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Forest and Environment, Physical Infrastructure and Planning, Federal Affairs and General Administration took the decision to form the committee.
The committee represents all the five ministries through a joint-secretary each. The committee will carry out a study on the registration, standards and impact on ecology and environment by stone crusher industries.
The Ministry of Home Affairs took the initiative to form the committee following widespread complaints of exploitation of the nature.
The meeting also decided to request the government to introduce a national standard on operation of crusher and mine industries.
