KATHMANDU:  Police have arrested six individuals including Nepal Student Union (NSU) leader Nawaraj Tripathi for staging a demonstration in front of Chinese Embassy.

NSU leaders on Monday morning demonstrated in front of Chinese Embassy shouting slogans, “Stop Chinese Intervention, “Stop Border Encroachment.”

Tripathi is also a campaigner of ‘Chinau Simana, Jogaun Mato’  (Identify Border, Save Soil) movement.

The other arrested are Pranil Tamang, Subodh Oli, Arbat Khadka, Binda Bogati, Dipendra Khadka, informed Manish Simkhada, another campaigner of the movement.

The campaigners have stated that it is a great responsibility of the students’ movement to instill awareness of the border encroachments of various places of Nepal including Kalapani, Susta in the students.

Earlier, students had been taught to draw the revised map of Nepal including Lipu Lekh, Limpiyadhura in various schools and historical facts about them for months under the campaign.

Meanwhile, the campaigners have accused the government of not taking the initiative at the diplomatic level to resolve the border issues even though it endorsed the revised map of Nepal through the parliament.
