311 new cases take Nepal’s COVID-19 tally to 19,063

KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 311 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the addition of the cases, total cases in Nepal have reached 19,063 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The new cases were detected in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk, Dang, Gorkha,  Ramechhap, Nawalparasi (East), Sarlahi, Kaski, Lamjung, Syangja, Bara, Rautahat, Makwanpur, Dang, Banke, Rupandehi, Surkhet, Dailekh, Bajhang, Doti, Achcham, Darchula, Doti, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Jhapa, Morang, Jhapa, Okhaldhunga, Saptari, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Bara, Parsa, Illam, Kapilvastu.

According to the Ministry of Health, there three from Jhapa, 17 from Morang, one from Okhaldhunga, 15 from Saptari, eight from Dhanusha, eight from Mahottari, one from Bara, one from Ilam and 13 from Parsa were diagnosed with coronavirus.

Similarly, one from Bhaktapur, 34 from Kapilvastu, 48 from Kathmandu, one from Nuwakot, four from Sindhupalchowk, six from Dang, one from Gorkha, four from Lalitpur, one from Ramechhap, one from Dhanusha, one from Parsa, one from Sarlahi, two from Kaski, two from Lamjung and 18 from Syangja were found infected.

Tests showed four people from Bara, one from Rautahat, one from Makwanpur, three from Banke, seven from Nawalparasi, two from Rupandehi, two from Surkhet, three from Dailekh, one from Bajhang, 58 from Doti, 16 from Achham, 16 from Darchula, 18 from Kailali and one from Kanchanpur have been infected, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Spokesperson at the Ministry, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said 5,032 samples have been tested through PCR in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 121 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centers after recovery. A total of 13,875 have recovered across the country so far.

A total of 789 people have returned home after recovery in Province 1, 3,014 in Province-2, 518 in Bagmati Province, 1,217 in Gandaki Province, 3,910 in Province 5, 1,608 in Karnali Province and 2,819 in Sudurpaschim Province so far, he shared.

At present, 5,129 people are in isolation and 13,875 are in quarantines.

There are 217 active cases of coronavirus in Province-1, 1,922 in Province-2, 461 in Bagmati Province, 260 in Gandaki Province, 399 in Province-5, 399 in Karnali Province and 1,501 in Sudurpaschim Province, according to the Ministry.

Nepal reported one new death in the past 24 hours that took the death toll to 49, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.
