When Baburam Bhattarai called PM Oli a demon…

KATHMANDU: The state-owned Radio Nepal has deleted an interview of former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai in which he can be heard lamenting Prime Minister KP Oli calling him ‘Bhasmasur.’

In Hindu religion, ‘Bhasmasur’ was a demon who was granted the power to burn up and immediately turn into ashes anyone whose head he touched with his hand.

During the interview that was aired on Monday morning, the former prime minister had accused PM Oli of only protecting interests of Khas people, an Indo-Aryan ethnolinguistic group.

Saying that the prime minister abducted a lawmaker and dragged President into controversy, Bhattarai said that a ‘Bhasmasur’ named PM Oli should be sacked.

Issuing a statement, Radio Nepal said it was saddened by the use of language and words by Bhattarai for the prime minister.

It added that it could not edit it as it was a live telecast.
