Coronavirus death toll crosses 206,000 globally with nearly 2.3 million infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 206, 995 after 80 people died in the last 24 hours as of Monday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 1, 534 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 2, 994, 796.

Currently, 1,908, 971 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 57, 603 are critical.

Meanwhile, 878, 830 have recovered after treatment.

The death toll in America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reached  55, 413 as of Monday morning.

No new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours according to Worldometer.

Currently, 812, 966 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 15, 143 is critical.  Meanwhile, 118, 781 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 22, 275 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 5, 938 and 3, 315 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has 26, 644 death as of Monday morning.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 197, 675, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America. No new deaths and infection cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, according to Worldometer.

Currently, 106,103 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,009 are critical. Meanwhile, 64,928 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 226, 629 after the United States of America (USA).

The country has reported  23, 190 deaths due to the novel virus as of Monday morning.

Currently, 85, 712 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7,764 are critical.

Meanwhile, 117, 727 have recovered after treatment.

The United Kingdom (UK) has reported 20, 732 deaths as of Monday morning.

According to Worldometer,  the number of infection cases has surged to 152, 840.

Currently, 131, 764 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.

France has registered 22, 856 deaths as of Monday morning.

According to reports, the number of infection cases has surged to 162, 100 so far.

Currently, 94, 341 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 4, 682 are critical. Meanwhile, 44,903 have returned home after recovery.

India has reported 881 deaths and 27, 890 from Coronavirus as of Monday morning.

Currently, 20, 486 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 5, 496 have returned home after recovery. The India government has conducted tests on 625,309 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 206,973 and infecting 2,994,436 people as of Monday morning.
