Nepal confirms 570 new COVID-19 cases, tally jumps to 160,400



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s COVID-19 tally has reached 160,400 as of Tuesday afternoon after 570 persons tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 2,725 sample tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours.

A total of 3,168 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 118,843 in the country.

Nepal currently has 40,681 active cases.

Likewise, 2,932 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

Similarly, , 281 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 71 have been put on ventilator support.

According to the Ministry of Health, 30 persons are undergoing treatment in ICU in Province 1, nine in Province 2, 178 in Bagmati Province, 13 in Gandaki Province, 42 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali Province, and five in Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of seven in Province 1, two in Province 2, 53 in Bagmati, one in Gandaki Province, and eight in Lumbini Province are on the ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 14 people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours taking the COVID-19 death tally in the country to 876, the Ministry confirmed.
