Gandaki Province sees 71 fresh COVID-19 cases



POKHARA: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in 71 people in Gandaki Province on Sunday.

According to the Gandaki Provincial Health Directorate, Pokhara, the new cases were diagnosed in tests carried out at Tuberculosis Treatment Center, Pokhara.

As many as 31 people from Baglung, 21 from Kaski, 16 from Lamjung and three from Nawalparasi East have contracted the coronavirus.

A 27-year-old man from Pokhara Metropolitan City-3 and a 38-year-old man from Pokhara-15 are working for the Nepal Police, while seven others from Pokhara-3 are construction workers.

Similarly, a 35-year-old man from Madhya Nepal-6 in Lamjung is a local school teacher, the health directorate added.

Likewise, most of the infected people from Baglung district are India returnees and some of them had returned from Japan, Oman, Dubai and Canada.

Other cases have been identified through contact tracing, according to the health directorate.

With the fresh cases, the coronavirus tally in the province has reached 3,744 and out of them, 2,566 have recovered.
