Global COVID-19 deaths approach one million



KATHMANDU: Over 293,873 new cases were reported throughout the globe in a single day. With this, total cases have reached 33,052,751 worldwide as of Sunday morning.

The number of deaths worldwide in the last 24 hours is 5,306 that took the number of deaths to 998,716. A total of 24,405,921 have recovered so far, according to records maintained by Worldometers.

Coronavirus has killed 219,947 people in European countries. European countries had witnessed 4.8 million cases and 2.4 million have recovered so far.

A total of 306,749 people have died in North American countries. The number of infections has reached 8.6 million. Of them, 5.5 million have been declared infection-free.

Similarly, 187,829 people have died in Asian countries. Out of 10.1 million people infected, 8.4 million have recovered and at least 247,756 people have died in South American countries. Of the 7.8 million infected, 6.6 million have recovered.

In African countries, 35,080 people have died as 1.4 million have been infected. Out of the infected, 1.2 million have won their fight against coronavirus.

At least 910 people have been killed in Oceania and Australia. Of the 31,017 people infected, 28,221 have recovered.
