Cold store with capacity of 200 metric tonnes built in Karnali State



KARNALI: A cold store with capacity of storing 200 metric tonnes agricultural products has been established in Bheriganga municipality-12 in Surkhet district.

The cold store said to be a largest biggest one in Karnali State in terms of its capacity has been established by Nari Jagaran Multipurpose Farmers Group at the cost of Rs 15.9 million.

The amounts collected for the project included Rs 7 million from the Agriculture Development Directorate, Rs 2.9 million from the Group, Rs 6.5 million from Bheriganga municipality, Rs 1.5 million from the Ministry of Land Management Agriculture and Cooperatives and Rs 500,000 from Gurvakot municipality.

Now, farmers can store their agricultural products, said the Group’s Chairperson Gyan Bhusal, adding that it costs Rs 4.50 per kilogram for storing agricultural products for five to six months.

With the establishment of the cold store, the people of Karnali State are relieved of visiting Kohalpur in State 5 to store their agricultural products.
