Two die from coronavirus in Province 2 in a single day



KATHMANDU: Two people have died from coronavirus in Province 2 in a single day.

According to Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dhanusha Koshhari Niraula, a 38-year-old of Shahidnagar municipality-8, Dumariya succumbed to the coronavirus, becoming the first COVID-19 death in the district.

The deceased was a local businessman. He had long been suffering from asthma and cardiac-related ailment.

He died while being taken to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Sunday, according to CDO Niraula.

He was confirmed to have died from coronavirus after his swab report came out positive during test at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences on Sunday evening.

“He was admitted to ICU of Provincial Laboratory, Janakpur on Saturday. He was referred to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan after his condition got worse.  He died on the way to the hospital,” said Niraula.

Niraula said his coronavirus report conducted posthumously came out positive on Sunday evening.

Earlier on Sunday, an Indian national who died in the course of treatment at Narayani Sub Regional Hospital tested positive for the virus.
