Govt starts preparations to establish labor bank

KATHMANDU: The government has begun preparations to establish a labor bank in the country in a bid to address job losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, the bank can provide employment as many as two million workers in partnership with the private sector.

Under-secretary at the Ministry Birendra Basnet informed that the bank will address the concerns of the workers in Nepal and Nepali migrant workers wishing to return home due to the pandemic.

According to him, the bank will initially collect details of the unemployed youth, and provide training before sending them to work.
