Over 200 Nepalis stranded in New Delhi over lockdown

KATHMANDU: Over 200 Nepali nationals have been stranded in New Delhi after India went into a lockdown to combat the coronavirus.

They were stranded in the Indian Capital City while they were heading to Nepal via New Delhi after their companies went packed up due to lockdown.

Of them, over 80 Nepali migrant workers are stranded at Noida Sector in New Delhi. Most of them were involved in jobs at canteens, shops, among others there. Similarly, over 50 people are said to be stranded around the area of Medanta Hospital of Haryana.

Likewise, over 25 are stuck at Chhatarur of New Delhi for the last three days. They were coming from Bangalore while 10 more people who were coming from Goa State of India are stranded at Panjabi Bagh.

Nepali Embassy in New Delhi is making arrangements to rescue them in coordination with Nepal and India governments.
