KATHMANDU: Banks have begun operating for two hours a day starting Thursday.

Banks and financial institutes have resumed their services for two hours in coordination with the Nepal Rastra Bank.

“Banking services will continue as this sector falls within the essential service sector,” NRB said.

Nepal Bankers’ Association on Wednesday urged the NRB to let the banks and financial institutes operate arguing that the baking sector is essential.

A meeting of COVID-19 Prevention and Control Coordination Committee held on Wednesday had directed to operate banking services in coordination with the Home Ministry and Finance Ministry.
