3,000 diagnosed with kidney failure in Nepal annually



KATHMANDU: Some 3,000 people are diagnosed with kidney failure in Nepal annually.

According to the National Kidney Treatment Center, one person out of 10 is diagnosed with kidney-related ailments during health checkups.

Different studies carried out on different occasions have stated that some 3 million people in the country are suffering from kidney-related ailments.

As per the latest data maintained by the Department of Health Service, 4,800 patients have been undergoing dialysis regularly.

The government has been providing free dialysis and has allocated Rs 2,500 for dialysis of one patient.
