Sudurpaschim Province records three COVID-19 deaths

DHANGADHI: Three people died of the coronavirus in Sudurpaschim Province on Saturday.

According to the Province Directorate of Health, one man each from Kailali, Baitadi and Bajhang succumbed to the pandemic.

The death toll from the coronavirus in the province reached 16 with three deaths in the last 24 hours.

The coronavirus has been confirmed in a 30-year-old man of Purchaudi Municipality-3 of Baitadi who was died on the way back from India.

Bhuvan Prasad Joshi, COVID-19 Focal Person at Health Office, Baitadi, said that the deceased’s sample tested at Dadeldhura Hospital laboratory came with a positive result.

Similarly, a 30-year-old man of Godavari Municipality-1 of Kailali, who was undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College at Bharatpur-10, also died of the coronavirus infection.

Director of the Hospital Dr. Dayaram Lamsal said that the infection was confirmed in him after death.

The man was admitted to the hospital on Friday after he was found to have respiratory problems. The hospital said that the man was treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Similarly, a Nepal Army soldier from Bajhang and working in Kathmandu also died of the coronavirus infection.

According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of Nepal Army, an NA soldier from Bajhang now deployed in the Valley has died of coronavirus pandemic.

After he showed epilepsy syndrome, the soldier was admitted to the emergency ward of Chhauni-based Birendra Army Hospital on September 22.

He was undergoing treatment at ICU there. His swab tested positive for coronavirus on September 24.

With this, the number of deaths of NA soldiers from coronavirus has reached two.

Meanwhile, the province witnessed 37 fresh coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 13 new cases were found in Achham, one in Kanchanpur, 15 in Doti, five in Darchula, two in Bajhang and one in Baitadi.
