KATHMANDU: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane’s team Delhi Capitals has secured a second win by defeating Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs under the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Delhi had made 175 runs losing three wickets in the allotted 20 overs in the match held in Dubai on Friday night.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw made 94 runs for the first wicket for Delhi Capitals. Shikhar Dhawan notched up 35 runs in 27 balls while Prithvi collected 64 runs in 43 balls.
Similarly, Rishabh Panta and Captain Shreyas Lyre made 58 runs. Chennai could make only 131 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted 20 runs while chasing the 176-run target set by Delhi Capitals.
Chennai’s Piyush Chawla took two wickets of Delhi Capitals. Similarly, Shane Watson was out for 14 runs while Murali Vijay was out for 10 runs. Chennai had lost the third wicket in 44 runs, fourth in 98 runs and the fifth in 113 runs.
Team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was out for 15 runs. With this win, Delhi has climbed atop the points table.
