Sunil Thapa likely to join NC this week

KATHMANDU: Former General Secretary of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Sunil Bahadur Thapa is joining the Nepali Congress (NC) party this week, sources have claimed.

Thapa, and 30 RPP had resigned from the RPP on Saturday to join the NC party.

Thapa, the son of former RPP Chairman and Prime Minister, is learned to have demanded the post of a General Secretary in the NC party.

NC party sources, however, said, the party is yet to decide the post to Thapa, who resigned from the RPP expressing dissatisfaction over the party’s principles, including the issue of monarchy and republicanism. The RPP has been advocating for a ceremonial monarch and a Hindu state.
