Govt server recovered; govt websites in operation

KATHMANDU: The government’s main server system that suddenly went down on Sunday afternoon has been resolved at 1:35 pm.

As many as 800 government websites could not be opened when the government’s main server system suddenly went down around noon on Sunday.

The data center under the National Information Technology Center in Singha Durbar had been in trouble since Saturday due to the shock of a nearby transformer.

Although some government websites were affected on Saturday, all government websites hosted at the data center were shut down on Sunday.

Even if the problem is solved, the problem of stabilization may be seen for some time, said Sunil Poudel, executive director of the center.

“It’s been a bit difficult to get a heavily loaded stabilization in DNS,” he said. “From Monday, all sites are expected to run smoothly.”
