Nepal’s COVID-19 count reaches 11,755 with 593 new cases

KATHMANDU: A total of 593 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Nepal in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that among the newly-infected are 486 males and 107 females.

With the news cases, the total number of confirmed cases has reached 11,755 including 10,506 males and 1,249 females.

According to Dr. Gautam, a test conducted at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar, confirmed coronavirus infection in a woman and a man from Morang, a man from Jhapa, four women and six men from Rasunsari in Jhapa.

Similarly, one woman and two men from Jhapa, two women and 10 men from Dhanusha, four men from Mahottari, one woman and five men from Siraha have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar.

Tests conducted at the laboratory of Narayani Hospital, Birgunj have confirmed the infection in three men of Dhanusha.

Likewise, a man from Achham, five women and 20 men from Baitadi, three women and six men from Bajhang, 10 women and 17 men from Bajura, two men from Bara, three men from Darchula, 29 men and 17 women from Doti, five men from Gorkha, eight women and 22 men from Kailali, eight women and 34 men from Kanchanpur, one woman and 8 men from Kapilvastu, two women and 44 men from Rautahat and one man from Salyan have been confirmed to have coronavirus infection in tests at the National Public Health Laboratory.

Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in a man from Gorkha, two men from Nawalparasi East, one man from Nuwakot and three men from Kathmandu in tests at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital.

Similarly, two women and 10 men from Chitwan, one man from Kailali, two women and 19 men from Nawalparasi East tested positive at the laboratory of Bharatpur Hospital.

Four women and eight men from Gulmi and two women and six men from Kapilvastu, one woman and four men from Rautahat and three men from Sindhuli have been confirmed to have coronavirus infection in tests in Hetauda.

Similarly, a woman and four men from Rautahat and three men from Sindhuli have been confirmed to have the infection in a test conducted at Bir Hospital, Kathmandu.

Tests conducted at Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences have confirmed the infection in a woman and a man from Kaski and six men from Lamjung and a test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Pokhara confirmed the infection in one man from Baglung, two men from Tanahun and one man from Syangja.

Similarly, two women and one man from Arghakhanchi, two women and 11 men from Gulmi, one woman and three men from Kapilvastu and one woman and 75 men from Palpa, a man from Nawalparasi, four women and two men from Rupandehi were tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Rupandehi.

A total of 14 women and 61 men from Dang and 20 men from Pyuthan have been confirmed to have coronavirus infection in a laboratory test conducted at the Rapti Institute of Health Sciences.

Tests conducted at the laboratory of Surkhet Provincial Hospital have confirmed the infection in 5 men from Dailekh, 2 men from Jajarkot, one man from Mugu, 3 men from Salyan, 8 women and 4 men from Surkhet.

Similarly, a test conducted at Karnali Health Sciences Institute in Jumla has confirmed coronavirus infection in a woman and two men from Baitadi.

Nepal has performed 206,271 sample tests through the PCR method so far.

A total of 6,535 sample tests have been performed through the PCR method and 2,486 samples test performed though the RDT method in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.

Likewise, 48 persons were discharged from the hospital after being recovered from the pandemic virus in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of recovered people has reached 2,698.

Currently, 9,030 people are in isolation and 71,012 in quarantines across the country.
