Nepali Congress seconds Constitution amendment proposal

KATHMANDU: Main opposition Nepali Congress has seconded the Constitution amendment proposal tabled by the government.

An officer bearers’ meeting of the NC held in Sanepa on Sunday seconded the government’s proposal to adjust a new political map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekha and Kalapani in the Coat of Arms featured in the Constitution’s Schedule 3.

Meanwhile, the NC in the meeting urged the government to initiate talks at the political and diplomatic levels on the issue of Limpiyadhura, Lipu Lekh and Kalapani.

The meeting also adjudged that the disputed territories are the parts of Nepal based on the Sugauli Treaty ratified in 1816.

Likewise, the meeting also decided to call a Central Committee meeting to dwell on the Constitutional amendment proposal regarding the new political map tabled at the parliament.

Concluding that the government failed to tackle the Coronavirus, the NC has urged the government to work on a war footing to address the pandemic.
