Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) gets ‘A-Class’ rating

KATHMANDU: Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), the first bank of the country, has been rated as the ‘A-Class Bank’ by ICRA Nepal Limited, NBL spokesman Prakash Kumar Adhikari stated in a press release on Friday.

Adhikari said that this ranking from the world-famous rating company, Moody’s, has enhanced NBL’s image further.
The bank has been providing its services from its all branches across the country by mobilizing a limited number of employees adopting full safety measures even in the present adverse situation created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the press release states.

According to ICRA Nepal, the key factors considered in the rating process are the operating and regulatory environment; ownership structure and government support; governance structure; franchise; management, risk positioning, systems and strategy; asset quality; diversity of funding and liquidity; profitability; and capital adequacy, among others.

ICRA Nepal Limited (ICRA Nepal) is the first Credit Rating Agency in Nepal. It is a subsidiary of ICRA Limited (ICRA) of India. ICRA Limited, a Moody’s Investors Service Company, was set up in 1991 by leading financial/investment institutions, commercial banks, and financial services companies as an independent and professional Investment Information and Credit Rating Agency.
