Shree Airlines airbus lands in Kathmandu with medical goods

An airbus of Shree Airlines landed in Kathmandu with medical goods on Friday.

The airbus with Call Sign 9N AMB CR700 touched down at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) with the medical goods procured by the Ministry of Health and Population and Temasek Foundation, a Singapore-based non-profit organization.

The airbus brought medical goods weighing 169 kg – government’s 50 kg and commercial cargo 119 kg -, said Anil Manandhar, Manager of the Shree Airlines Company.

Manandhar further said that the cargo has been handed over to the Health Ministry.

Hotel industry income to be slashed by 90 per cent: HAN

The novel coronavirus pandemic has badly affected the tourism sector – Nepal’s one of the major revenue sources. Air service and hotel industries are among the most-affected amid the lockdown imposed to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Hotel Association of Nepal (HAN) – an umbrella organization of hotel entrepreneurs in the country — has projected that income of hotel industry might decrease by 90 per cent in 2020.

The Association has urged the government to adopt special policy measures to prevent hotel and hospitality industry from sliding into a worse condition.

Finance Minister Khatiwada’s three strategies to tackle COVID-19 crisis

Taking part in a video conference attended by the delegates of the World Economic Forum and the head of the government and senior officials of South Asian nations, Finance Minister Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada shared his three-point strategy.

Firstly, he said that there is the need to coordinate for and ensure cross-border and international support to control the unwanted movement of the people at the border and provide facility to the migrant labors.

Then, there is the need to provide and ensure the availability of basic food stuffs, medicine and health materials.

And lastly, there should be postponement of loan payment deadline and redemption of loan so as to empower the economically backward nations to regain the ability to come out from this crisis.

In addition to the government officials, the economists, representatives of private sector and the officials of World Health Organization had attended the video conference.
