NOC introduces ‘one family one cylinder’ rule to regulate distribution

KATHMANDU: Nepal Oli Corporation (NOC) has introduced a new rule to regulate the distribution of cooking gas.

According to the new rule, a family will not get or hoard more than one cylinder of cooking gas and that the distributor has to keep the respective customer’s details including citizenship number, name, address and phone number.

Issuing a directive on Tuesday, the state oil monopoly said the details regarding quantity of cooking gas imported, the number of bottling plants to be filled up, gas cylinders in stock, the number of cylinders distributed the other day, names and address of the dealers must be submitted at the respective District Administration Office and at the NOC office in the case of the Kathmandu Valley by 10 am.

Once the refilled cooking gas cylinders arrive, the dealers in the Kathmandu Valley have to take permission from the NOC and those outside the Valley from the respective District Administration Offices prior to distribution, informed NOC Director Surendra Kumar Paudel.

The dealers have to record customer’s details including his/her name, citizenship number, address and phone number and ensure that one family will receive one cylinder of cooking a month, reads the directive.

The new rule is expected to control black marketing and unnecessary of hoarding of the cooking gas.
