Chitwan reports 286 scrub typhus, 243 dengue cases



CHITWAN: As many as 243 patients among those visiting the district hospital are confirmed to have contracted dengue and 286 are scrub typhus patients, the hospital has said.

Among the dengue infected, 149 are from Chitwan district while 94 are from outside, said the health office.

The infected ones are in normal condition. Likewise, of the scrub typhus patients, 149 are from the district and 137 outside.

One died from scrub typhus this year. Dengue infection rate in the district has decreased as compared to previous year, thanks to effective measures to control the disease, said the office chief Dipak Tiwari.

In the fiscal year, 2019/20, 4,803 people were infected with dengue and out of them, three succumbed. There are no risks of the diseases this year, said Tiwari.

At present, local levels in the district have launched awareness campaign to control dengue.

Of 127 scrub typhus infected people in the FY, 2019/20, two succumbed, said Gitanjali Dhakal, information officer at the health office.
