Karnali Province records 65 fresh COVID-19 cases



SURKHET: A total of 65 persons have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in Karnali Province in the last 24 hours,

A PCR test conducted at Karnali Province Hospital/Avian Disease Investigation Laboratory Surkhet, Karnali Institute of Health Sciences Jumla, Dailekh Hospital Laboratory, and Chaurjahari Hospital Rukum West Laboratory confirmed the infection on Sunday.

Among the newly-infected, 17 are from Surkhet.

According to the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Social Development, three are security personnel, one health worker and one doctor each, and other people were diagnosed positive in course of the contact tracing.

Similarly, 27 from Kalikot, nine from Dailekh, five from Jumla, two from Mugu, one each from Rukum West and Salyan, and three from other provinces have been found positive for the pandemic.

With the new cases, the coronavirus tally in the province has reached 5,680.

Meanwhile, 132 more were discharged on Sunday, taking the total recoveries to 4,373 so far.

The province has 1,119 active cases, while 15 have succumbed to the pandemic so far.
