Health Ministry warns action against labs overcharging for PCR test

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has warned to take strict action against the laboratories taking more charge for the PCR test than the one fixed by the government.

Issuing a press release on Friday, the Ministry has reminded all 55 laboratories in the country not to take excessive charge and not execute the PCR test of the people not much vulnerable to the coronavirus pandemic.

It has even warned to take strict action against the labs provided they breach the National Testing Guidelines.

The Ministry’s press release has mentioned that it has got some complaints regarding the reliability and credibility of the tests carried out in private laboratories.

The Ministry has made it clear that 40 public laboratories assigned by the government will carry out the PCR tests of the people eligible for it as per the National Testing Guidelines free of cost.
