Province 1 sees 85 fresh cases in 24 hours, 38 discharged after recovery

BIRATNAGAR: Province 1 witnessed 85 new cases of the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, with 41 cases in Morang, 25 in Sunsari, 12 in Jhapa, one in Taplejung and six in the people outside province 1, there had been 85 fresh cases of coronavirus discovered on Friday.

With Friday’s cases, the coronavirus caseload in Province 1 has reached 6,149.

Similarly, the province got 38 people discharged after recovery, making the discharge tally 2,656.

Meanwhile, the country saw 1313 new cases in the last 24 hours, making the total countrywide number of infections 70,614 till date.

Speaking at the routine daily press meet at the Ministry of Health and Population this afternoon, Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said 1,455 people recovered to their normal health in the past 24 hours. So far, 51,866 people have recovered from the deadly virus.

The number of active cases of coronavirus is 18,289.

A total of 10,052 persons were currently undergoing treatment at home isolation, while 8,237 patients were being treated at the institutional isolation.

He added that 227 COVID-19 patients in Nepal are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 39 have been put on ventilator support.

Meanwhile, six people succumbed to the deadly virus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 459.
