‘One house, one test’ being resumed in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ: Birgunj Municipality is set to reintroduce ‘one house, one test’ policy to find out the status of infection cases in the community level.

According to the policy, 50,000 people will be tested in Birgunj metropolis within a month.

Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City Vijay Kumar Sarawagi said, “We had earlier started testing a family member in every house in the metropolis under this policy. But later it was stopped due to lack of support from the district administration office. Now we are starting it again.”

He said that the swab of a member recommended by a family would be taken during the test.

Stating that the infection has spread at the community level in Birgunj, he said that the testing policy has been put forward to ascertain the status of the infection.

He further said it would provide guidance on how to control the infection in the coming days.

‘After testing this way, the community will know the  present status of the infection. It will also be easier for us to adopt the next policy to curb the virus, accordingly, ‘said Mayor Sarawagi.
