Budhanilkantha Municipality to set up 50-bed isolation facility



KATHMANDU: Budhanilkantha Municipality is going to set up 50-bed capacity isolation. The 55th meeting of the Municipality’s municipal executive on Monday took this decision in view of the increasing COVID-19 cases in the municipality. The meeting was presided over by Mayor Uddhav Prasad Kharel.

The meeting decided to upgrade the quarantine set up at Diththachaur of the municipality into an isolation facility. Similarly, an isolation facility would be set up at BMC, ward no 2 of the municipality, Municipality’s ward no 10 chair Nawaraj Bhattarai said.

A committee would be formed under the convenorship of Deputy Mayor Ramadevi Rai for the construction and management of the isolation facility.

The meeting also decided to form one management committee at the ward level each for one infected person under the convenorship of the ward chairperson or the ward member appointed by the ward chair.

This ward level committee per infected comprises a health worker and one local person as an assistant to the infected, as members.

The Municipality is also providing Rs 4,000 to the infected person kept in home isolation as nutrition protection while the family having more than one infected persons shall be provided with lump sum Rs 6,000 in the form of nutrition protection. Likewise, the assistant of the infected person shall be given Rs 2,000 per family as an incentive.

The Municipality meeting has also decided to provide Rs 1,000 per person as incentive allowance to the police personnel mobilized within the municipality during the lockdown and prohibition period.

A decision has also been made to provide 75 per cent incentive allowance to the health workers working in the frontline in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and 50 per cent allowance to the rest of the employees mobilized as per the need of the municipality during the prohibitory period.

So far, 1009 persons in the Municipality have undergone PCR test while the number of infected persons has reached 130. One hundred and two coronavirus infected people are in isolation at hospitals and at home, according to the Municipality.
