Mortuary van handed to municipality

DAMAULI: The Damauli Chamber of Commerce and Industry has handed over a mortuary van to Byas municipality.

The Damauli Chamber has been operating the mortuary van for the past one year. Chamber Chair Raj Kumar Shrestha handed the key of the van to Byas municipality mayor Baikuntha Neupane.

Shrestha shared the mortuary van was handed over in a way the municipality would look after overall management and operation of the vehicle.

This is the only mortuary van available in the municipality, he added.

“The Chamber had run ambulance service in Damauli for over seven years and has been operating the mortuary van service for the past one year”, Shrestha said.

“We have handed over overall responsibility to the municipality when it was difficult to meet regular expenses of its driver”, he further said.

Mayor Neupane expressed gratefulness to the Chamber for the handover of the mortuary carrier and pledged to provide its service on the overall management of the municipality.

Meanwhile, the Byas municipality is set to provide details of houses damaged by monsoon rain-triggered floods and landslides on 13 July to the District Disaster Committee.

The municipality has decided to furnish details of the houses to the Disaster Management Committee after the government came up with a decision to provide relief to the floods and landslide survivors.

Municipality spokesperson and ward-5 chair Mohan Kumar Shrestha shared the executive meeting decided to collect details of the houses damaged from ward mechanisms and furnish them to the disaster management committee.
