KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the House of Representatives and the National Assembly to submit a written reply within 15 days with the reasons for lawmakers speaking in the Hindi language in the Federal Parliament.
A single bench of Justice Prakash Kumar Dhungana on Thursday sought reasons as to why the lawmakers were not asked to speak Nepali in Parliament.
Advocates Keshar Jung KC and Lokendra Oli had filed a writ petition demanding to speak only Nepali language in the parliament.
The writ petition also demanded that the speeches made in Hindi language MPs Sarita Giri and Amrita Agrahari be removed from the records of the parliament.
