KATHMANDU: Private schools have courted criticisms from all quarters after they asked for fees for the new academic session against the government’s instruction.

School administrations have started demanding fees after PABSON and N-PABSON, umbrella organizations of private and boarding schools in Nepal, decided to charge fee for the new academic session on Sunday.

Interestingly, some schools have sent the bill including the topics of transport service, tiffin and lunch, while the students have not gone to schools since the lockdown.

PABSON and N-PABSON, in a press note, have stated that they have not been able to pay building rent and salary for teachers as the reasons for charging the fee.

On the other hand the government has directed not to charge fees starting mid-March in the name of new admission.

Many schools had taken fee for the Nepali month Chaitra by the first week of the month.

The Nepal government had imposed lockdown since March 24.
