Former boyfriend behind Sweta’s suicide: Police  



KATHMANDU: Sweta Pokharel, 24, of Udayapur Belaka municipality-2 had been found hanging in her rented room in Biratnagar.

A staffer at a local Savings and credit cooperative, Sweta was tying the knot on June 29. Pokharel family was excited with the wedding. Sweta committed suicide before the special day.

Police began investigation into the case.

During the investigation, Sweta’s younger sister Sarita revealed that Sabin Parajuli, former boyfriend of Sweta, had tortured her by sending messages warning that he would ruin her new conjugal life.

Despite strong emotional support from Sarita, her elder sister could not bear the mental suffering and resorted to suicide.

A preliminary investigation of the police led by DSP Man Bahadur Rai shows Sweta’s former boyfriend compelled her to commit suicide.

Meanwhile, police have arrested Sabin Parajuli of Sundarharaincha municipality-10, Morang in the course of investigation.

Parajuli made photos taken with Sweta public through Facebook that reached the new bridegroom, forcing her to commit suicide, said the investigation report.

Sweta’s family had decided to marry off her to a youth from Biratnagar after her former boyfriend denied to get married with Sweta.

Police said Parajuli was bent on foiling Sweta’s marriage with the boy.

According to police investigation, they were classmates while at Mahendra Morang Campus and were in love for the last three years. She was staying in a rented room in Biratngar.

Her body was found hanging at 6 pm in the rented room on Sunday.
