8 persons who had contact with infected in Budhanilkanta test negative



KATHMANDU: Reports of PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests of eight people who had come in contact with an infected person of Tenjing Chowk at Budhanilkanta Municipality-12 have been negative, the municipality said.

Swabs of them including a person from Ramnagar-4 in Sarlahi district and others from Kathmandu were tested at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.

An 18-year-old girl of the municipality has been tested positive for the infection. The infected girl is in isolation at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku.

Following the detection of the first infection case in the municipality, the area was sealed off from May 18 to 21. Chief at the Health Section in the municipality, Kumar Dahal, said that RDT and PCR tests will continue. So far, the municipality conducted 466 RDT and 101 PCR tests, he said. Of the 466 RDT tests, reports of 32 have been positive for the infection, he added.

Swabs of 93 suspected people including people’s representatives of the municipality, security personnel and the media persons have been sent to the National Laboratory, he said.
