Thailand starts coronavirus vaccine trial on monkeys

BANGKOK: Thailand has started testing vaccine against the COVID-19 on monkeys following positive trials in mice.

Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Research and Innovation, Suvit Maesincee stated hoped to have a much ‘clearer outcome’ of the vaccine’s effectiveness by September this year.

The Minister said that this project is for all humans, not just Thais.

The National Vaccine Institute, the Department of Medical Science and Chulalongkorn University’s vaccine research center is vaccine is developing the vaccine.

Thailand had earlier announced it was developing a vaccine hoping to have it into production by 2021 in the country.

According to him, Thailand has begun reserving two manufacturers for the vaccine for COVID-19.

Reports said that the Thai vaccine uses messenger RNA that prompts body cells to produce molecules, antigens on the surface of viruses.
