KATHMANDU: Tehrathum Sarokar Samaj, which had earlier said it would rescue people stranded in the Kathmandu Valley and take them back to their home district, has cancelled its plan for the time being.

Two local units in Tehrathum district had given the Samaj permission to take their people back to their respective villages.

With the Coronavirus infection cases ever increasing in the country, of late, prompting a nationwide lockdown, the people stranded in the capital will not be ferried back to their home district immediately, said Mohan Kumar Dangi, Chairman of the Samaj.

Fortunately, no one has tested positive for the novel virus in Tehrathum, an eastern hilly district in State 1, where the diagnostic tests are being conducted on the suspected locals and especially those returning home from abroad.

Meanwhile, Morang, Udayapur and Bhojpur districts that lie in the Tarai region have already reported confirmed Coronavirus cases.

Twenty nine among 48 people diagnosed with the deadly virus until Friday are from State 1, according to media reports.

Talking to Khabarhub, Arjun Babu Mabuhang, Mayor of Laliguran Municipality, said the local unit is not immediately sending a vehicle to rescue the people since Tehrathum is a sensitive zone from the point of Coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, Atharai rural municipality and Laligurans municipality had said that they would send vehicles to rescue the people stranded in Kathmandu in free of cost and keep them in quarantine in their home district.
