Ensure supply of daily essentials during lockdown: SC



KATHMANDU: Supreme Court has issued an order ruling that all the state organs should be sensitive during the lockdown enforced by the government to stem Coronavirus.

A joint bench of Justices Deepak Kumar Karki and Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued the order to this effect at a time when the country is facing a critical time caused by Coronavirus pandemic that has wreaked havoc across the world.

“Officials associated with the state organs should abstain from behaving people inhumanely against the law and ensure the supply of daily essential goods during the lockdown,” reads the ruling.

Advocate Shailendra Harijan had filed a writ petition at the SC seeking its order to ease the supply of daily essentials including medication, drinking water and foodstuffs during the lockdown.

Earlier, the SC had sought a written response from the government on the management of daily essential goods.
