Govt urges to open shops selling daily essentials

KATHMANDU: The government has clarified that the lockdown will not be enforced on shops selling daily essentials.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has urged to open shops selling foods, medicines and cooking gas cylinders.

The statement added that employees at such shops should compulsorily follow safety precautions such as wearing a mask and frequently washing hands.

The government said that the outlets of Food Management and Trading Company and Salt Trading Corporation will open as usual.

The government has enforced a nation-wide lockdown effective from today to combat the coronavirus, barring people’s movement and closure of all offices and shops expect those providing essential services.
