Absconding rape-convict held after one year



KATHMANDU: A man who was on run after being convicted of raping a mentally ill girl has landed in police net after one year.

The arrested is Purna Bahadur Khadka, 56, of Singha Devi VDC-7 of Okhaldhunga, currently staying at Sipadol in Bhaktapur.

High Court Patan on November 12, 2018 had convicted Khadka of rape.

According to Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police, Khadka had raped a 15-year-old mentally retarted girl of Jagati, Bhaktapur by luring her into his house by providing her with a 10-rupee note four years ago.

A CIB team arrested Khadka who had gone into hiding following the verdict of High Court Patan.
