Home Minister Thapa finally vows support for PM Oli



KATHMANDU: Amid speculations on which faction Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa would support, Thapa has finally has opened up vowing his support to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Thapa pledged his support for Oli after the latter promised him to make his ‘second man’ in his faction. Secretariat member of the ruling NCP Thapa had met with Prime Minister Oli and Prachanda on Wednesday.

According to a source privy to the meeting, Home Minister Thapa expressed his support to Oli during a meeting yesterday.

Former Maoist Badal had not taken part in the meetings of the two factions after the ruling NCP party headed towards the verge of split.

According to sources, the relationship between Badal and Prachanda soured after the latter tried to relieve him of the post of Home Minister.

Prime Minister Oli has reached an agreement with Badal to make him a leader second in seniority in his faction. However, the leaders considered close to Badal have joined Prachanda-Nepal faction.

Former Maoist leaders Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekh Raj Bhatta and Mani Thapa have already joined Oli camp.

Dadal is formally joining the Oli camp from today, sources have said.
