‘Constitutional Bench may take days to hear cases on HoR dissolution’

KATHMANDU: All the cases filed at the Supreme Court against the House of Representatives (HoR) have been referred to Constitutional Bench.

Legal practitioners including four lawmakers have filed 13 writ petitions at the apex court.

Hearing on 12 writ petitions on Wednesday, Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher sent them to the Constitutional Bench without issuing a stay order on the government’s decision on HoR dissolution.

CJ Rana referred them to the Constitutional Bench saying that these issues are related to the Constitution.

One of the 13 writs had earlier been fled at the Constitutional Bench and scheduled for hearing on Friday mentioning the Prime Minister and the Office of the Prime Minister and Office of the President as defendants.

The Constitutional Bench will take place on Friday.  Experts say, the Constitutional Bench is not likely to hear all the cases on this day.  Senior Advocate Dr Chandra Kanta Gyawali says the Constitutional Bench might take a longer time to complete the hearing on all the cases.
