JSP demands to open Nepal-India border points

KATHMANDU: The Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) has demanded the government to open the closed Nepal-India border.

JSP Chairmen Mahanta Thakur and Upendra Yadav issued a statement today demanding resume border points closed due to coronavirus pandemic.

According to the party, the country’s economy is collapsing due to the closure of border checkpoints for a long time and the life of the people in the border areas, especially in the Terai Madhes, is becoming very difficult.

Similarly, the people have serious problems in agriculture, education, health care, employment, economic and social sectors, said the party.

It also demanded the availability of risk allowances for doctors and health workers, hospitals, health equipment, manpower, and medicines in a planned and effective manner to prevent further spread of coronavirus infection.

The border has been closed for the past nine months.
