Siraha reports another COVID-19 death



SUNSARI: A youth from Siraha succumbed to the coronavirus while receiving treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) on Monday afternoon.

A 22-year-old youth from Lahan, Siraha died around 3 pm today, according to BPKIHS Spokesperson Dr. Dinesh Sapkota.

The youth with respiratory problems had tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday. He was admitted to the hospital on August 18.

With this, Nepal’s coronavirus death toll has reached 158.

Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll had reached 157 as of Monday afternoon after eight more fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at a regular press briefing this afternoon, Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that one each from Sunsari, Morang, Parsa and Kathmandu and four from Rupandehi have died of the coronavirus.

The country had witnessed 743 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours including 224 from the Kathmandu Valley.

With this, the total number of coronavirus cases reached 32,678 in the country while 11,275 individuals are now quarantined.

Dr. Jageshwor Gautam had said that 246 are women out of total new cases. So far, the country conducted the PCR tests of 610,469 individuals.
