454 health workers infected with COVID-19



KATHMANDU: A large number of medical workers including doctors, nurses and lab technicians have been infected with the coronavirus in the country of late.

According to Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, as many as 454 health workers were infected with the coronavirus as of Sunday.

Of them, 142 are medical persons, 123 are hospital staffers, 94 nurses, 30 lab technicians and 65 are paramedics.

However, actual number might go higher as the hospitals do not divulge the actual number of the infected for the fear that the patients will not come to the hospital for treatment, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

Dr Jageshwor Gautam, the spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, suggests that medical workers have to put on visor and waterproof mask while treating patients.
