US reports 47,663 deaths, 848, 994 infection cases



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 4 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 47,663 as of Thursday morning.

With 18 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 848, 994 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 717,022 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 14, 016 is critical.  Meanwhile, 84,050 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 20, 659 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 5, 063 and 2, 813 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a public health emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 184,204 and infecting 2,637,414 people as of Thursday morning.
