KANCHANPUR: Nepal government’s decision to go for border seal has resulted in stranding hundreds of Nepalis returning home from India in no-man’s land at the  Nepal-India border.

Despite the enforcement of ‘Janata curfew’, Uttarakhanda government was liberal to let the Nepalis already on their way back home. However, the Nepal government’s border seal resulted in their stranding at the border.

“Although Uttarakhand government let them come up to Indo-Nepal border at Dasgaja, they are not allowed to enter Nepal as per the government decree,” Nurhari Khatiwada, the Chief District Officer of Kanchanpur said.

Nearly 301 Nepalis coming to Nepal via Banbasa are stranded at the border. It is said that 49 women including 2 pregnant ones and few children are also in the stranded group.

The federal government had issued border closure decree on Sunday evening. The abrupt decision resulted in the stranding of hundreds of them.

CDO Adhikari informed that the Ministry of Home is informed about the situation and they are waiting for further instructions soon.
