Govt to build quarantine camps for 5,000 people in capital

KATHMANDU:  The government is preparing to build a quarantine site with the capacity to accommodate 5,000 people in the Kathmandu Valley in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

A meeting of Quarantine Site Construction and Management Taskforce on COVID-19 decided to this effect, calling for cooperation from all sides to jointly deal with the probable spread of the novel virus.

According to the decision, hotels, schools and stadiums will be used as quarantine camps if the situation calls for.

A committee led by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has prepared a draft regarding the guidelines of the public quarantine site.

The draft will be submitted in the joint meeting participated by the representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Urban Development and all four security agencies scheduled for Monday morning, according to the Ministry.
