Nepali Congress cancels tea party amidst COVID-19



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress, that has been holding a tea party since 2034 BS to increase mutual harmony and reconciliation between the parties, will not hold it this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2033 BS, the founder leader and former president of the NC, BP Koirala had returned home from India with a policy of reconciliation.

Koirala had started the tea party on the day of Kojagrat Purnima in 2034 BS. Since then, the NC has been organizing tea party every year on the day of Kojagrat Purnima.

NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma said, “Due to COVID-19, we are not in a position to organize a tea party this year.”
