KATHMANDU: The government has decided to hold the election of the official trade union on December 12.

Announcing the decision of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, government spokesperson Pradip Gyawali informed that the government has decided to direct the Department of Labor and Occupational Safety through the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security to hold the election on December 12.

Earlier on Monday, Chief Minister of State 2 Lal Babu Raut had sent a letter to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration requesting to stop the election.

Raut, the chief minister of state-2, had demanded that the election should be postponed as the rate of infection on rise, the Threshold dispute and the issue was pending in the Supreme Court.

Similarly, the government has decided to declare Baglung and Sindhupalchowk landslide-affected areas as disaster-prone areas this year.

He informed that the reconstruction work in the districts will be constructed by investing around Rs. 6 billion received through the World Bank.
